It is a pleasure and an honor to have as our speaker Dr. Patricia Simmons, a physician and professor of Pediatrics at Mayo Medical School. She has also been named to the newly created position of Mayo’s Executive Medical Director of Health Policy which involves travel to Washington DC. Dr. Simmons has also taken on involvement in Global Health.
Dr. Simmons is actively involved in our community and took part in the creation of the University of Minnesota Rochester. In 2003, Dr. Simmons was elected from the 1st Congressional District to the University of Minnesota Board of Regents. In 2009 she was re-elected for a second 6-year term. It will be especially interesting to learn about her work with the U of M as well as her national and state health policy involvement. She is a frequent author and lecturer in her field and a recipient of awards for excellence in teaching.
